Knot Average

Bantu knots originated from the Bantu tribes of Southern Africa. Originally they were worn for spiritual purposes and display one’s cultural identity.

Fast forward to today, this hairstyle is commonly used as a fashion statement, a homage to our African roots, or a simple protective style. Regardless of the reason, the uniqueness of this “Knot” so average style is what inspired me to capture this on canvas.
