How To grow to your first 1k
Create nice quality videos
It is very important to have nice lighting! As humans our eyes are usually drawn to well lit videos and photos.
- If your drawing space is close to a window make sure to open the blinds to bring in plenty of sunlight
- Take your art out side sometimes!! Record videos holding them up with a nice nature background like bushes, grass, lakes, ect here is an example https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRoXQU1j/
- For low lit drawing spaces definitely get a ring light or at least an LED lamp for your desk. I say LED because it captures all the colors of your artwork.
Try to post at least every day if not every other day.
I know what your thinking, I don’t have the time to record and edit everyday!! Good news: You don’t have to create new videos all the time, just constantly repost your videos. I say have a rotation of reposting at least every 5 to 10 videos. And experiment with different sounds!! If you just post your art just once a lot of your followers might miss it and also there are millions of other people that hav not seen your art yet! Avoid posting watermarks because alot of times TikTok likes to push original videos to the for you page. I use https://snaptik.app to download my videos without a water mark
Record your drawing process as much as possible!!
If you don’t already have one I highly recommend getting a tripod.
time lapse videos show a sped up video of your drawing process. Example: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRoX6wtd/
Record your drawing process in real time hold your phone while drawing. You don’t have to hold it the entire part but bits and pieces and combine them into once video. Example: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRoCEDCa/
film your art close up and move your phone back to show the art close up example: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRoXNDSK/
Create engaging voice overs. Record anything art related and talk about it!!
5 Types of content
Here are the different forms of content to grab your audience’s attention:
Engaging
Start conversations with your audience:
Ask questions that will prompt them to comment on your post because when TikTok sees that your audience is engaged with your content
Tell stories
Entertaining: use a funny sound, make art related skits,
Inspirational: show your older artwork vs your art now, share your audience your goals, Use sounds that have motivational messages
Educational: art tutorials, art hacks, art tips. Talk about your favorite art supplies and why it is so useful
Promotional: If you have your art for sale tell them how they can buy your art. At the end of your video tell your audience to follow you.
TikTok Sounds:
To find trendy sounds,
- Scroll down your for you page and click on the sound. If the sound make sure the sound has viral videos back to back and look at the times those users posted the videos. If the sound is less than 1 to 2 weeks old it’s a trending sound!
- Go to the TikTok search bar and search “Trending sound, Trending sound alert” You’ll find creators who dedicate alot of their posts to inform you of trending sounds all the time
Finding trending sounds that you like can be a bit stressful so when that happens, just use and old sound. You can also go viral use older sounds as well.
Make sure you favorite as much sounds as possible so that you can go back to them and use them later on.
